KUCHING: Sylvia Nawan Sa secured another bronze medal for the Sarawak contingent with her impressive leap at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI) Sarawak 2024 women’s high jump event today.
The Sarawak athlete delivered an outstanding performance to clear the heights from 1.4 metres to 1.5 metres before facing some difficulties at 1.54 metres.
After two attempts, she successfully cleared the height and secured the bronze medal for Sarawak.
Another Sarawak representative, Loretta Ann Mona Nyadau faced challenges at 1.45 metres, failing to clear the height in all three attempts.
Loretta finished in 11th place with a best height of 1.4 metres.
Meanwhile, Sabah’s Ku Yee Aleng and Penang’s Melissa En Xuan Choong cleared the early heights effortlessly before both eventually cleared the 1.64-metre bar, awarding gold to Sabah while Penang secured the silver.
On Monday, the athletics events commenced at the Sarawak Stadium and will continue until August 23 with 44 gold medals still up for grabs. -UKASnews
