KAPIT: The Sarawak government is continuously working to resolve ongoing issues related to the construction of rural road networks.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, chaired a Rural Connectivity Project Monitoring Meeting on Thursday, which involved the Kapit District Public Works Department (JKR) and local representatives, organised by the Kapit Division Resident’s Office.
The meeting was held as part of Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah’s ‘field visit’ programme, designed to allow him to personally review and talk with the heads of various agencies and local elected officials.
The Sarawak Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, also received an update on both completed and upcoming projects in the Kapit Division by its Resident, Galong Luang.
Meanwhile, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah has revealed plans to increase the staff at the Kapit Division of the Public Works Department, especially field personnel, by the end of the year.
Additionally, he will bring up the issue of discontinuing the Rural Area Service Allowance (EBKP) for all state government staff in the Kapit Division with the Sarawak State Secretary, to seek a reconsideration for the allowance withdrawal.
At the same time, he also reviewed the road access to the Baleh Hydroelectric Dam during his visit.
