MIRI: The safety of all participants at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI) Sarawak 2024 is assured.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and Chief De Mission of the Sarawak Contingent, Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu said a security committee has been established under the Miri Division Resident’s Office to ensure the safety of athletes from Sarawak and other states.

“Many PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) officers will be stationed at the competition venues to ensure athlete safety,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters while conducting a site visit to the SUKMA XXI venues in Miri, on Friday. 

Meanwhile, Dato Gerald Rentap was satisfied with the preparations made in all venues, noting that 99 per cent of the work has been completed. 

With just eight days remaining until SUKMA XXI kicks off, he urged everyone in Miri to show their support for Sarawak’s athletes at the sports venues as their encouragement can make a significant difference.

Also present were Sarawak Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, Telang Usan Assemblyman, Dato Dennis Ngau, Deputy Resident of Miri Division, Juan Ubit, Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) Head of North Zone, Netty Elvis, and representatives from departments and agencies under the SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 Committee. -UKASnews
