BINTANGOR: Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar has presented donations to suraus and mosques in Sarikei district during a ceremony at Dewan Dayang Bai, Bintangor on Saturday.

The total contribution amounting to RM85,000 was presented to five mosques which each received RM10,000 while seven suraus each received RM5,000.

Also receiving donations is Sarikei Islamic Welfare and Trust Board (Lakisri).

This grant aims to help mosque and surau committees implement various programs for the benefit of parishes and communities in their respective areas.

Tan Sri Datuk Amar Asfia hopes that suraus and mosques can be used as a center for the unification of the Muslim community, thus strengthening brotherhood among them.

Also present were his wife Puan Sri Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar, Tanjong Manis Member of Parliament, Ir. Yusuf Abd Wahab and Pemanca Yii Hie Sieng as representatives of Meradong Assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing. - UKASnews
