SIBU: The Dewan Sa’ati of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) at the SUPP Sibu office is an important symbol because the party was founded here 65 years ago.
According to Sarawak Deputy Premier and President of SUPP, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, the SUPP Sibu building, which houses the Dewan Sa’ati on the third floor, was purchased in 1989 at a cost of RM900,000.
“The hall serves as a home for all SUPP members to continue striving for the advancement and development of Sarawak.
“This is our home, it is not just an ordinary house but one that continues to inspire us to develop Sarawak,” he said.
He said this during the official opening of Dewan Sa'ati at SUPP Office, Sibu on Wednesday.
He also added that Dewan Sa’ati is also a symbol of the party’s multi-ethnic unity, which has been fighting for the people for the past 65 years.
“With SUPP’s effort in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, Sarawak has been able to demand its rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“With the success of claiming rights under the MA63, the Premier of Sarawak can demand payments from Petronas. This is very important and represents SUPP’s role in the government for the people.
He stated that Sarawak in 2024 is no longer the same as it once was, and if Sarawak prospers, Malaysia will also prosper.
Also present were Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government who is also the Pelawan Assemblyman me SUPP Youth Chief, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Bukit Assek Assemblyman, Joseph Chieng Jin Ek and others. -UKASnews
