Government Remains Committed To Promoting Culture Of Quran Reading

KUCHING : The government remains committed to promoting the culture of Quran reading and understanding its essence.

According to Deputy Prime Minister, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, balance between human values and prosperity can be achieved by adhering to the principles of Islam, ad deen (a way of life).

"Our every action is governed by our religious values. Islam itself reflects brilliance. Whether we realise it or not, divine guidance towards excellence is always with us," he said.

He said in his text of speech read by the Chief Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman during the Kuching Division Quran Recitation Competition 1446 Hijrah/2024M held at Masjid Al Abyad on Friday. 

This year's competition lasted one day, featuring 12 participants of 6 Qari (male reciters) and 6 Qariah (female reciters).

All participants had competed at the district level and scored the highest among Kuching, Bau, and Lundu.

Meanwhile, the champion Qari was Mohd Safwan Mahli, and the champion Qariah was Nina Nurfayati Muhammad, who will represent Kuching Division at the state level.

The event also featured a recitation by guest Qari Rayqal Azihni Ilman Ismawi and a nasyid performance by Kumpulan Khalifah. 

Also present were the Resident of Kuching Division, who is also the Chairperson of the Kuching Division Quran Recitation Competition, Dayang Joanita Azizah Abang Morshidi.
