KUCHING: The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) has donated a grant of RM5 million for the columbarium project of the Anglican Church in Kuching.

The grant was handed over by the Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, to the Anglican Bishop of Kuching, Datuk Danald Jute, on Wednesday.

The RM8.838 million project is currently being built on a site between St Thomas' School and the Sarawak Museum and will be the second columbarium in Kuching city, following the Roman Catholic Columbarium.

The project was approved by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, in December 2022.

Meanwhile, according to the Chairman of the Columbarium Project Committee, Datuk Winsel Athos, the project is now 14 per cent complete.

He expects the project to be completed by July 2026.-UKASnews
