KUCHING: The Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Danielle Heinecke made an engaging visit to the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) on Wednesday afternoon.

This was her final stop in Kuching before returning home to Australia this evening.

The tour kicked off by showcasing the garden area, where various plants that can work as remedies and ingredients in products such as hand sanitizers were introduced.

Next, Danielle and her delegates were introduced to the algae area, where they were briefed by one of the staff members about the future of the algae bio industry.

The highlight of the visit was the tree planting ceremony, during which the Australian High Commissioner successfully planted an Engkilili (Lepisanthes alata), a tropical forest fruit tree native to Borneo, Java, and the Philippines.

Following that, SBC’s Research Officer, Margarita Naming, presented Danielle with a gift from SBC’s own product line, Lit Sara, as a token of appreciation before ending the tour. -UKASnews
