KUCHING: Over 2,000 residents of Kuching thronged the Padang Merdeka for the Juh Berambeh Sungkei @ Kuching 2024 on Saturday.
Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this programme is held for the second time after last year and received positive response from the community.
"Alhamdulillah, the weather is good today. I believe this programme received a positive response because on weekends many people are shopping for Eid necessities, thus they can join this programme and break fast together," he said when met by the media at the programme.
Meanwhile, attendees also participated in the "Tazkirah Ramadan" programme delivered by invited speaker Dato Kazim Elias.
Visitors were also entertained by a performance by the winner of the 38th Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL), Amir Jahari, singing the song 'Hasrat'.
This programme is organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development in collaboration with the Persatuan Kebajikan Mahabbah Kuching.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (Entrepreneur Development) Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED) Frederick Morshidi and Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan. -UKASnews
