GEDONG: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg greeted a total of 300 asnaf groups in the Gedong State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituency to extend blessings in the month of Ramadan.
The symbolic handing over of the donation was completed by him in the Gedong District Breaking Fast Ceremony here on Saturday.
In the meantime, the Tabung Haji Sarawak Board also channeled help from them to 300 other asnaf groups.
In the event, only 56 asnaf groups received donations while donations to the remaining recipients will be given later by the mosque and Sarawak Tabung Haji Board.
Earlier, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari also presented a Small Rural Project (MRP) fund contribution of RM3,000 each to 10 mosques, while 13 suraus each received a MRP fund of RM2,000.
The total amount of MRP funds presented by Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari amounted to RM56,000.
After the symbolic handing over of aid, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari who is also a member of the Gedong State Legislative Assembly continued the programme with a break ceremony before performing the obligatory Maghrib prayer with the residents of Gedong.
Next, he had the opportunity to attend a dinner with dignitaries, grassroots leaders and residents from around Gedong who were present that night.
The ceremony then continued with the obligatory Isyak prayer and the Tarawih prayer before the Sarawak Premier left for the state capital.
