SIBU: Closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) will be installed around Foochow Park here, next year to enhance its security.

This was after Sarawak Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee accepted the initiative proposed by the Sibu Foochow Association.

"I promise to install the CCTVs in 2025, and the association will be responsible for maintaining the system," he said during a Minor Rural Project (MRP) Grant Handover Ceremony at the premises of the Sibu Foochow Association on Monday.

Datuk Michael Tiang allocated RM10,000 to the association this year and announced an additional allocation of RM50,000 for next year.

Regarding issues related to the parking of lorries and other vehicles, the Pelawan Assemblyman mentioned that he has negotiated with the Director of Land and Survey Department Sarawak to acquire 100 acres of land for the planned placement of heavy vehicles.

"As a Deputy Minister, I aim to advocate for the development of Sibu, regardless of political party or race.

"As such, I urge the residents of Sibu to provide their input for the progress of this area,” he added. -UKASnews
