14 Recipients Awarded At Sarawak Level Maal Hijrah Award 2024

KUCHING: A total of 14 recipients were awarded the 2024 Sarawak Level Maal Hijrah Award.

Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tun Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi completed the presentation of the Maal Hijrah awards to the recipients held at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) here on Sunday.

Also present were Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Ministers, Chairman of the Islamic Council Sarawak Datuk Misnu Taha and other distinguished guests.

The 14 awards are Research and Development Achievement, Muslim Civil Servants, Non-Muslim Civil Servants, Saudara Kita (Male), Saudara Kita (Female), Volunteers, Youth, Mosque Management and Administration, Surau Management and Administration, Excellent Religious Primary School, Outstanding Religious High School, Outstanding STAM Student, Outstanding SPM Student, and Outstanding STPM Student.

Campus Director, UPM Bintulu Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini topped the list of recipients of the Maal Hijrah Award by receiving the Research and Development Achievement award, a cash prize of RM7,000 and a certificate signed by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi.

Next, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datu Abdullah Julaihi, received the Muslim Civil Servant award, while the Deputy Director of the Sarawak State Education Department, Dr. Les Met received the Non-Muslim Civil Servant award.

In addition, Sarawak Islamic Mosque servant Ustaz Mohd Chathazman Abdullah received the Saudara Kita (Male) award while Saudara Kita Secretary Bintulu Alizawati Abdullah received the Saudara Kita (Female) award.

This was followed by Miri Inland Revenue Board civil servant Iqbal Abdollah receiving the Volunteer Award, and Assistant Secretary General award SABERKAS Sarawak Mohamad Akram Mohamed Karim who received the Youth award.

The recipients received a cash prize of RM5,000 as well as a certificate signed by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi.

In addition, the Mosque Management & Administration Award was given to Al-Hidayah Mosque, Kampung Bako which received a cash prize of RM5,000, a certificate signed by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and a Project worth RM30,000.

Meanwhile, the Surau Management & Administration Award was given to Darul Mukmin Surau, Kampung Riam Jaya which received a cash prize of RM5,000, a certificate signed by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and a Project worth RM20,000.

In the meantime, the Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan National Religious School received the Outstanding Religious Secondary School Award while the Tun Ahmad Zaidi National Religious Secondary School received the Outstanding Religious Secondary School Award with each receiving a cash prize of RM5,000, a signed certificate by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and a book prize worth RM3,000.

As for the awards for the students, Amirul Adib Seman received the Outstanding STAM Student award while Awang Muhammad Hazim Syazwan Awang Nazri received the Outstanding SPM Student award followed by Selina Ling Abdul Hamid receiving the Outstanding STPM Student award.

Outstanding STAM and STPM students received a cash prize of RM3,000 while Outstanding SPM Students received a cash prize of RM2,000 with all three students also receiving a certificate signed by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Special Assistance of RM4,000 Tabung Ibnu Khaldun to continue his studies at the Higher Education Centre. - UKASnews
