BINTULU: The Ex-Golden Eagle Crisis Simulation Exercise Training Drill, jointly organised by the National Security Council (MKN) Sarawak and Sarawak Energy (SEB) was held at SEB Tanjung Kidurong Power Plant, here, on Wednesday.

Director of MKN Sarawak, Mohammad Haffizie Putit said this drill was held to test the SEB Tanjung Kidurong Power Plant's Emergency Action Plan and ensures that all relevant departments or agencies are prepared for the power plant’s activation.

“MKN plays a role in coordinating drills for critical targets in Sarawak.

“Every year, MKN plans and organises several drills for departments or agencies that have not conducted drills to help with their preparedness in facing high-risk incidents in the workplace or critical targets,” he said in an interview session.

Haffizie added that the rating of critical targets recognised by the Office of the Chief Government Security Officer (CGSO) have an impact on the economy if a high-risk incident occurs.

“Therefore, critical targets like the SEB Tanjung Kidurong power plant need to conduct drills to test the readiness of the Emergency Action Plan and identify necessary improvements to handle high-risk incidents such as threats or natural disasters,” he said.

Also present were the General Manager of Gas of SEB Power, Cheling Sapong, Chairman of Bintulu Emergency Mutual Aid (BEMA), Wan Kamarudin Wan Ahmad, Bintulu District Police Chief, DSP Mohd Fazri Yusof, and Assistant General Manager of Business Continuity Management of Sarawak Energy, Ir.
