Sarawak Advances Bioenergy Research With MBDC Collaboration

KUCHING: Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Hipni, welcomed a courtesy visit from the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (MBDC) recently. 

The delegation was led by Senior Vice President of the Industry Development Division, Ts Soeraya Satem Ahmad.

In a statement, it said the visit aimed to enhance understanding of MBDC's role under the Ministry of Science and Technology Malaysia (MOSTI). 

Key discussions focused on fostering cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty) to advance green technologies, particularly in bioenergy.

MBDC showcased various grants provided by MOSTI to start-up companies in Research and Development. 

The meeting highlighted bioenergy, aiming to gather current insights into energy sector developments in Sarawak. 

MOSTI, through MBDC, has allocated significant development and research grants to explore this field further.

The grants discussed included the RM500,000 Applied Innovation Fund, RM1 million for Technology Development Fund 1, RM3 million for Technology Development Fund 2, RM5 million for the Bridging Fund (BGF), and RM15 million for the Strategic Research Fund (SRF) - APP.
