KUCHING: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) will collaborate with other educational institutions to shape human character with commendable morals.
JAKIM Director General, Datin Paduka Hakimah Mohd Yusoff said her department and the Sarawak Islamic Skills Institute (IKMAS) would uphold the mandate suggested by the Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
"Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi shared his experiences and aspirations on how IKMAS and other educational institutions can emphasise the aspect of value education and human capital.
“Many educational institutions today focus on imparting knowledge, but shaping values and identity as a Muslim and as a human being is also something important that needs attention," she said.
She made these remarks when speaking to reporters after the courtesy visit by JAKIM and IKMAS to Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi at the Astana Negeri Sarawak on Monday.
The courtesy visit was, among other things, to invite Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah as the guests of honour at the 20th Convocation of the Sarawak Islamic Skills Institute, which will take place on August 12.
At the convocation ceremony, which will be held at the Sarawak Islamic Council Hall, 53 students will receive the Diploma in Islamic Da'wah Studies, while 14 students will receive the Certificate in Basic Da'wah Studies. -UKASnews
