KUCHING: Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) and Huawei Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance Sarawak's cybersecurity, promote private 5G network adoption, and modernise applications.
The MoU was signed at Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen, China with Chief Executive Officer of Sains, Busiai Seman and Vice President of Huawei Malaysia Enterprise Business Group, Michael Zhuang as the signatories.
A press release issued today said, the partnership aims to strengthen collaboration to secure digital assets against cyber threats by developing and implementing advanced security solutions like Huawei’s SecMaster and Cloud Bastion Host (CBH).
Huawei's SecMaster offers a cutting-edge, cloud-native platform for seamless and automated security management, including cloud asset control, customizable defence policies, and swift threat response, while the CBH centralises security oversight to authorise, authenticate, and audit maintenance actions, thus minimising security incidents and ensuring system stability.
With Huawei's security expertise, Sarawak's digital assets should be well-protected from cyber threats by the end of 2024.
SAINS and Huawei Malaysia are working together to deploy private 5G networks in Sarawak, specifically designed for enterprises to improve productivity, security, and scalability, with a target completion date of June 2025.
The partnership will modernise applications and integrate AI using Huawei's ModelArts to boost efficiency, cut costs, and enhance State Government services by the end of 2024.
Huawei's President of Enterprise Key Account Sales, Xiao Haijun highlighted the company's honour in aiding Sarawak's digitization efforts, stressing the need for secure, high-performing networks to foster innovation in cybersecurity and 5G, which will support the region's economic growth and Malaysia's connectivity aspirations.
Meanwhile, Busiai expressed his excitement on this link-up with Huawei Malaysia through the MoU.
“This collaboration allows us to leverage Huawei’s expertise and technological advancements, particularly as part of Sarawak’s digital transformation journey,” he said.
