KUCHING: Alibaba Cloud, serving as the digital technology and intelligence foundation of Alibaba Group, has announced the expansion of its partnership with Sarawak Information Systems Sdn. Bhd. (SAINS), a leading ICT systems integrator and solutions provider in Sarawak.
A statement released on Tuesday stated that the collaboration aims to enhance digital public services and advance sustainable practices in Sarawak through state-of-the-art cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
The partnership between Alibaba Cloud and SAINS was officially established with the exchange of a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Alibaba Cloud Valley in Hangzhou, China, on Tuesday.
Following the success of their digital cloud solution collaboration with SAINS since last October, Alibaba Cloud and SAINS will venture into new cooperative projects focusing on digital public services and green AI.
Chief Executive Officer of SAINS, Busiai Seman, conveyed his excitement about the extended collaboration, stating that SAINS is committed to steering Sarawak's digital transformation towards becoming a developed state by 2030.
"SAINS is committed to driving Sarawak's digital transformation to become a developed state by 2030, ensuring economic prosperity, social inclusivity, and environmental sustainability.
“Extending our collaboration with Alibaba Cloud aligns perfectly with this mission. Alibaba Cloud brings a wealth of expertise and a wide range of solutions, to fuel our initiatives which are crucial for our goals,” he said.
Meanwhile, General Manager of Malaysia, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, Kun Huang said a dynamic digital economy will require a stable and strong digital foundation, including digital infrastructure, digital talents, skills and inclusivity.
“As a leading cloud service provider, it is our great honour to deepen the collaboration to assist SAINS in its mission of delivering innovative and sustainable digital public services and creating effective solutions that benefit the digital transformation of Sarawak,” he added.
The digital public service initiative under the collaboration aims to enhance Sarawak’s public services and sustainability by integrating Alibaba Cloud’s AI technologies to streamline operations and improve efficiency, setting sustainability benchmarks, measuring carbon footprints, implementing carbon reduction strategies, and enhancing energy management to achieve carbon neutrality.
Alibaba Cloud and SAINS aim to support Sarawak’s sustainability goals by providing AI-driven solutions and services, creating custom toolkits to enhance efficiency in sustainability assessments using advanced cloud and AI technologies. -UKASnews
