Prioritise Safety During Aidilfitri Celebration

SIBU: Muslims preparing for the Aidilfitri celebration are urged to make safety their top priority at all times.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam emphasised the importance of avoiding unwanted incidents such as fires and road accidents.

"During the festive season, people usually make preparations, especially in making traditional meals. However, we must be cautious with the use of electricity in the kitchen to prevent any unwanted incidents from occurring.

"We should prioritise safety, especially our children’s safety, to prevent them from engaging in unbeneficial activities, as well as ensuring safety when returning to the village," he said.

He said this during the ‘Majlis Sejambak Kasih Aidilfitri 2024’ event at the Malay Union Club of Kampung Nyabor (MUC) here, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Datuk Mohammad Razi said the government, through the Sarawak Social Welfare Department, allocated a total of RM1,662,400 to assist 16,624 aid recipients celebrating Hari Raya this year.

Kuching recorded 4,524 recipients, Samarahan (2,486), Serian (349) , Sri Aman (734) , Betong (2,216) , Sarikei (359) , Sibu (766) , Mukah (2,374) , Kapit (98) , Bintulu (601) , Miri (967) and Limbang (1,157).

A total of 1,100 aid recipients were invited and celebrated at the ‘Majlis Sejambak Kasih Aidilfitri 2024’ event, where each recipient would receive a cash contribution of RM100 and a hamper worth RM80.

Datuk Mohammad Razi also urged the community to always be economical and moderate, especially during upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

Also present were Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa'ee, Sibu Resident's representative Christopher Ranggau Unting and other guests. -UKASnews
