SERIAN: The Land and Survey Department (JTS) has measured perimeters of 1,217,766 hectares or 3.009 million acres of land throughout Sarawak since the implementation of the customary land measurement initiative began in 2010 until 30 September 2025.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that 938,342 hectares or 2.3 million acres have been successfully gazetted from this amount.
He added that the government has now also gazetted the Native Communal Reserve Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code (KTN) involving 12 localities with a total of 12,370.232 hectares and 36 villages.
"After the gazetting of Section 6, the second stage, namely the surveying of individual lots and the issuance of Section 18 KTN Title Deeds, is being actively carried out throughout the state," he said.
He said this when speaking at the Serian and Kuching Division Native Communal Reserve Land Compensation Cheque Presentation Ceremony at the Serian Conference Centre (SCC) on Wednesday.
According to Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, as of 30 September 2025, a total of 105,344 individual lots have been surveyed involving 125,703 hectares (310,618 acres) and 34,122 lots have been issued title deeds covering 47,443 hectares (117,234 acres).
However, he stressed that the survey is only carried out with the consent of the land claimant and after ensuring no boundary disputes have occurred.
He also called for the cooperation of village and community leaders (KMKK) as well as stakeholder landowners to ensure the programme is not delayed. -UKASnews
