KUCHING: The second cohort of the Sarawak Youth Startup (SYStartup) programme, scheduled to take place from 8 to 15 November in Miri, aims to empower young Sarawakians with the knowledge and skills to become competitive entrepreneurs.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, said the intensive programme organised by his ministry provides opportunities for youth aged 18 to 40 to deepen their understanding of entrepreneurship through a comprehensive approach.
“This programme is designed to encourage more young people to venture into business and entrepreneurship.
The key concept we want to instil is the importance of knowledge capital in becoming a successful entrepreneur,” he said during a press conference here on Wednesday.
Datuk Dr Ripin emphasised that the initiative plays a vital role in shaping a generation of Sarawakian youth capable of creating new job opportunities and contributing to the state’s economic growth.
“We want to produce more young people who become job creators, not just job seekers.
This aligns with the aspirations of our Premier under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” he added.
The second cohort of SYStartup is expected to attract between 150 and 200 participants, featuring modules on entrepreneurial motivation, business registration, licensing, branding, accounting, and awareness of online scams.
Datuk Dr Ripin also encouraged interested youth to apply before the 30 October deadline via the official ministry website or through the QR code provided. -UKASnews
