KUCHING: The late Donald Lawan is described as a successful Dayak leader and entrepreneur in Sarawak.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, expressed that as a former representative, the late Donald Lawan also encouraged the Dayak community to actively engage in the business sector.
"As far as I know, he (the late) was fearless in taking risks in any business venture he pursued, yet he achieved great success."
"Even he was thinking about renewable energy, and I believe he was very creative in business," he said.
He said so when approached by the media while paying his final respects to the late Donald at his residence here on Wednesday.
Earlier, the arrival of the Sarawak Premier was greeted by the late Donald Lawan’s son, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak, Datuk Snowdan Lawan and his family.
Among those present to pay their final respects to the deceased were former Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Tan Sri (Dr) Alfred Jabu Numpang, Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts of Sarawak, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chew Yew.
The late former Member of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) of Bukit Begunan was confirmed to have passed away at Borneo Medical Centre at 6.38 PM on Tuesday.
He was 81 years old and had seven children. -UKASnews
