KUCHING: Sarawak's 13th Malaysia Plan (2026–2030) will continue to focus on accelerating delivery, deepening transformation, and empowering greater private-sector participation.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, said Sarawak will leverage its natural capital and comparative advantages, combined with the latest technologies and skilled manpower, to drive more high-value downstream industries, expand green investments, and create inclusive opportunities.
This ensures that no Sarawakian is left behind in our journey towards shared prosperity.
"Our goal is clear: to ensure every
initiative under the Post-COVID Development Strategy ( PCDS) 2030 delivers tangible outcomes — improving lives, creating quality jobs, and expanding opportunities for all Sarawakians.
"Through these strategic efforts, we aim to double the size of our economy from RM148.2 billion in 2024 to RM282 billion by 2030, with a median monthly household income targeted at RM15,000 — reflecting our collective determination to uplift the living standards of all Sarawakians," he said.
He made these remarks during the launch of the Sarawak 13th Malaysia Plan (2026–2030) at the Sarawak Economic Conference 2025 on Monday.
He added that w stronger and more dynamic private sector will be central to this growth — expanding capacity, boosting productivity, creating jobs, enhancing competitiveness, and attracting both domestic and foreign investments.
"The seven strategic thrusts of PCDS 2030 continue to guide us, providing the foundation for targeted investment, economic diversification, digitalisation, social well-being, and sustainable development," he added.
"As we move forward, we remain fully committed to embedding environmental sustainability across all initiatives, with the long-term goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
"These thrusts ensure that Sarawak’s growth under the 13MP remains inclusive, resilient, and forward-looking."
To translate these strategic thrusts into tangible outcomes, Sarawak has structured Sarawak’s 13MP around 15 Key Socioeconomic Sectors and Enablers, namely Energy Transition; Manufacturing and SME Development; Commercial Agriculture; Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Creative Industries; Forestry, Natural Asset (Capital) Management, and Conservation; Mining and Oil & Gas; Infrastructure and Utilities; Transport and Logistics; Business Services; Digital Transformation; Innovation; Education and Human Capital; Social Services; Government Transformation; and Waste and Circularity.
"These sectors reflect our evolving economic landscape, our focus on innovation-led, diversified, and inclusive growth, and provide the framework through which Sarawak will deliver on its ambitious targets."- UKASnews
