Sarawak Governor Receives Courtesy Visit From Sarawak-Kuching Waterfront Regatta 2025 Committee

KUCHING: Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy visit from the Sarawak-Kuching Waterfront Regatta 2025 Committee at the Astana Negeri Sarawak, on Monday.

The delegation was led by the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The visit served to extend an invitation to Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi to attend several major events taking place in early November.

Among the events are the Sarawak Gendang Festival 2025 which is scheduled for 1 November 2025 at the Kuching Waterfront.

The prestigious event is also expected to be graced by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, along with Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Meanwhile, the closing ceremony of the Sarawak Regatta 2025 will be held on 2 November 2025 at the Kuching Waterfront.

Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi will be present as the guest of honour, while the Sultan of Pahang will be the royal guest of the event.

Both events, particularly the Sarawak Regatta as one of the state’s flagship events this year, reflect the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment to enriching the cultural heritage, traditions and local performing arts, as well as strengthening the spirit of unity and togetherness among the people.

Among those present at the courtesy call were Deputy Ministers for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP), Datuk Snowdan Lawan and Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, and Kuching Division Resident, Dayang Joanita Azizah Abang Morshidi.

Also present were Director of the Malaysian Handicrafts Development Corporation Sarawak Branch, Mohd Fu’ad Ariffin, Director of the Sarawak National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN), Noor Seela Noor Sulaiman, Controller of the Sarawak Rivers Authority, Lt. Col. (Rtd) Ding Tiew Wong, representative of MTCP Permanent Secretary, Tracy Evon, representative of Director of the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Joachim Paggang Jabong, and representative of Director of the Sarawak State Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit, Wan Fauzi Wan Ismail. -UKASnews
