KUCHING: The Sarawak government is set to develop a new 300-kilometre road stretching from Marudi to Long Terawan and onwards to Mulu, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the road network in the northern region of the state.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the project will also connect northern areas of the state, including Lawas and Limbang.

“It will commence next year and is expected to take around four to five years to complete,” he told reporters after officiating at the 6th Triennial Delegates Conference of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) here on Saturday.

He added that the project will not only improve accessibility for rural residents but will also serve as a catalyst for the area’s development under the new economy.

Also present at the opening ceremony were Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, along with other invited guests. -UKASnews
