SRI AMAN: Cleanliness of parks and surrounding areas is crucial in an effort to prevent the spread of diseases, stressed the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

He said that the efforts of the Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) in collaboration with the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) to organise gotong-royong activities are proof of MDSA's commitment in strengthening relations with the community and raising awareness of public hygiene.

He said that the work of cutting trees, cleaning local areas and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds is effective in ensuring that the village environment remains clean and cheerful.

The programme, which was held on Thursday, was also attended by Kapitan Kang Tai Hing, MDSA Councilor, Balean Suji Inggol and Micheal Pillov Lachen.

In another development, the Simanggang Assemblyman also announced that the project to upgrade the drains and sewers from Kampung Bestari Pasir Panas to Batang Lupar will continue through the allocation of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project worth RM500,000 to improve the drainage system and related infrastructure.

In addition, the issue of old rusty pipes in Lorong 2, Taman Kurniawan has also been taken action with the repair work completed.

He added that the car park and the headman's base have also been upgraded for the convenience of local residents.

In this regard, he hopes that MDSA will continue to work with local residents in efforts to maintain existing facilities and cleanliness in the Sri Aman area. -UKASnews
