BELAGA: The Jiwa @ Komuniti Madani Programme continued its mission to unite and empower rural communities through direct engagement, with its seventh and final series for the year held at Uma Balui Liko, Sungai Asap.
Officiated by Senator Michael Mujah Lihan, the programme brought together participants from three zones, namely Koyan, Tubau and Asap, under the initiative organised by the Malaysian Information Department (JaPen) Belaga.
In his speech, Senator Michael described the programme as an important platform for the government to share accurate and up to date information on national and state policies.
He said the Madani Community serves as a unifying force that promotes understanding and harmony among people of different races, cultures and faiths.
He added that such face to face interactions remain the best approach to ensure rural residents receive genuine information, especially regarding government incentives and current issues affecting their livelihoods.
Among the topics highlighted were Budi Madani RON95, Sara Khas RM100, Budget 2025, and Sarawak government initiatives such as SKAS, free education for Sarawakians, laptop assistance, and student aid programmes.
The senator also urged communities to stay vigilant against online scams including Macau Scam, Love Scam and Malware attacks.
Touching on the Post COVID 19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, Senator Michael reiterated the government’s commitment to improving telecommunications and internet coverage, which he said would spur investment, create jobs and raise the quality of life in rural areas.
To support local development, he announced a RM10,000 fund for the JKKK Uma Balui Liko and RM1,000 each for three Komuniti Madani zones in Murum, totalling RM13,000.
He also expressed appreciation to the local community and JaPen Belaga for their cooperation in making the programme a success.
The event concluded with a Julut cultural dance performance by youth groups from Uma Balui Liko and Uma Baha, symbolising the community’s unity and cultural pride in preserving Sarawak’s rich traditions. -UKASnews
