KUCHING: The Karnival Kimia Malaysia (K2M) Sarawak Zone 2025, held at Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (Y6) Petra Jaya, seeks to spark curiosity and nurture young Sarawakians’ interest in science and innovation.

Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Sarawak International Education, Noranne Adam Assim, said K2M connects educators, students, and industry experts to link classroom learning with real-world applications.

“K2M is more than just an event. It serves as a platform where educators, students, and industry experts come together to share science knowledge, spark curiosity, and connect classroom learning to real-world applications,” she said.

She added that the programme is a strategic investment in building Sarawak’s human capital, aligning with the state’s vision for a sustainable and technology-driven future.

“It is through igniting the passion of STEM in our students today that we build the scientifically literate, innovative, and forward-thinking workforce needed to propel Sarawak towards new heights of economic development,” she added.

Meanwhile, Prof. ChM. Dr. Sim Siong Fong from the Institute of Chemistry Malaysia (IKM) reminded students that chemistry lies at the core of all sciences and encouraged them to pursue it with curiosity and perseverance.

Dr. Sim also urged participants to stay motivated despite challenges, highlighting Sarawak’s need for more scientists and innovators to lead future progress.

Organised in collaboration with IKM Sarawak Branch, the carnival encourages students to discover the fun and purpose behind chemistry in shaping a generation of young innovators. -UKASnews
