KUCHING: A total of 29,177 Year 6 students from all over Sarawak will sit for the ‘Ujian Penilaian Dual Language Programme Sarawak Tahun 6’ (UP-DLPS 6) starting today until October 16, 2025.
Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that this examination is an initiative of the Sarawak Government in collaboration with the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS) and the Examination Syndicate (Lembaga Peperiksaan) of the Ministry of Education (MOE).
He explained that this examination covers Science and Mathematics subjects which are taught entirely in English under the Sarawak Dual Language Programme (DLP) as well as English as a medium of instruction.
“The implementation of UP-DLPS 6 is an important benchmark in Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and English language proficiency in schools.
“Through this assessment, the ministry aims to objectively measure students’ performance in Science and Mathematics subjects taught in English, as well as identify areas that need improvement,” he said in a media statement, on Wednesday.
Dato Sri Roland Sagah added that the UP-DLPS 6 question paper had been reviewed and validated by Cambridge University Press and Assessment (CUPA) to ensure the validity and reliability of the test instrument in assessing students’ knowledge and skills according to international standards.
“The results of this assessment will be used to design specific intervention programmes to improve the quality of teaching and learning in DLP schools,” he added. -UKASnews
