Sarawak Governor Receives Courtesy Call From YPBN

KUCHING: The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy call from the National Book Development Foundation (YPBN) at the Astana Negeri Sarawak on Monday.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Managing Board of YPBN, Tan Sri Professor Datuk Wira Dr Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar.

During the meeting, he praised the Sarawak Governor as a leader and statesman full of knowledge who published many works.
    
"So in that meeting, we discuss to carry out a study on figures not only at the Sarawak level, but also at the international level.

"I am very impressed and happy with Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi, as a person who has many books...his works are not imagination, but reality.

"Him, as a legal expert, a political administration officer if we want to tell the story in a book, he will set a good example to Malaysians for generations to come," he said when met by reporters after the courtesy call.

He added that the Head of State is a jewel from Sarawak who should be popularised in the form of books.

"I will consult Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to study the ideas and struggles of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi as a national figure," he said.

Meanwhile, he informed, among those that were also discussed was the National Book Award which will be held on September 12.

"We have invited Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and intend to present awards to national figures in the Borneo Art and Culture Conference Award (BACA) 2024," he said.

Among the awards that will be presented are the Borneo Literature Award, the Borneo Writer’s Award, and the Borneo Book Award. -UKASnews
