KUCHING: Bintulu will host the Sarawak Youth Week 2025 taking place from October 13 to 19, with various exciting programmes awaiting more than 5,000 visitors from all over the state.

Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said the annual celebration is held in rotation throughout the state, and this year it is Bintulu's turn as host after Kapit and Mukah in the previous editions.

"The organisation of this Youth Week is an effort by the government to recognise and empower the youth, besides providing a platform for them to showcase their talents in the fields of sports, recreation, arts and entrepreneurship," he said at a press conference in Kuching, on Monday.

With the theme 'Our Aspirational Youth', this event also emphasises the role of youth as the hope of the country, agents of change and drivers of state development.

Throughout the week of the event, three main events will be implemented, namely Youth Champion, Youth Active and Youth Marketplace, featuring various activities such as boxing workshops with Sapok Biki, mental health sessions, youth expo, Youth Fest Run, entrepreneurial product sales and the Youth Got Talent competition.

The highlight of the celebration will be held on October 19 at the Bintulu Civic Centre, which is expected to be officiated by the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Among the main highlights is the Sarawak Youth Awards, which recognises outstanding male and female youth as well as youth associations with cash prizes of up to RM10,000.

In addition, the entertainment stage will be enlivened with performances by local artists such as Daniel Leong, Lucy M, Nurul Zahnesha, Alexander Peter, Tuah Jili, JC Pangganiban and the special guest group, One Avenue Band.

“The government greatly appreciates the contribution and role of youth in the development of the state and the country.

"This celebration is symbolic of the government's commitment to continue to reach out to and empower young people," he explained. -UKASnews
