Sarawak Achieves Target Of Planting 35 Million Trees One Year Early

SIMUNJAN: Today, Sarawak achieved a proud milestone when it successfully planted 35 million trees with the objective achieved one year ahead of its target.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, said he had been given the honor of planting the 35th million tree to symbolise Sarawak's achievements during the Sarawak State Level International Forest Day 2024 Ceremony at Sabal Forest Reserve on Saturday.

Earlier, he had the opportunity to visit the site and was briefed on the creative innovations made by the Sarawak Forestry Department (JHS) in addition to the launching of a book from JHS.

The Sarawak Premier also witnessed the memorandum of understanding between JHS and Bintulu Port Holding Berhad for a forest landscape restoration and greening Sarawak campaign.

Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari also witnessed the receipt of the 'Malaysia Book Of Records' recognition for 'Planting The Most 'Shorea Macrophylla' Tree In One Event' through the planting of 3,010 Engkabang Jantong trees in the Sabal Forest Reserve on 21 March 2024 which accepted by JHS. - UKASnews
