KUCHING: The SPM STAR Workshop 2025 wrapped up at the Auditorium, Kuching South City Council (MBKS), with its Mayor, Dato Wee Hong Seng delivering a motivational closing address to 198 students from 21 schools across Kuching.

According to a statement, Dato Wee commended the students’ commitment and reminded them that the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) is a gateway to greater opportunities, urging the students to embrace discipline and determination as keys to success.

He also highlighted the Free Tertiary Education (FTES) initiative by the Sarawak Government starting in 2026, ensuring that financial barriers will no longer prevent Sarawakians from pursuing higher education at state-owned institutions.

The workshop was organised by the Persatuan Alumni Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar UiTM with support from MBKS, State Education Department (JPNS), NEXGEN Petra Jaya and MBKS Child Council.

Dato Wee further extended his appreciation to teachers, parents, and organisers for equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to excel in their exams. -UKASnews
