MIRI: Zikir Al-Ummah Group from Masjid Al-Ummah Tudan Phase 4 was crowned the champion of the Miri Division Marhaban Zikir Competition 2025.

Earlier, they performed the songs Khairuman and Badatlana and will represent Miri Division at the Borneo Level Marhaban Zikir Competition in Kuching on November 1 to 2.

The runner-up was the Suara Zikir Madani Miri Group from Masjid Miri Jalan Merbau with the songs Khairuman and Falakam Lahu.

The competition, which took place at the Tun Rahman Hall, Masjid At-Taqwa Miri, was organised by the Miri Malay Association in collaboration with Masjid At-Taqwa, Persatuan Iman Miri Division and Masjid Miri, on Sunday.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship, Datuk Dr. Ripin Lamat, when officiating the competition, described the inaugural event as an important step that not only reinforces the message of Islam, but also strengthens community unity.

The Lambir Assemblyman also announced a contribution of RM5,000 to support the continuation of such programmes.

Earlier, the President of the Miri Malay Association and Competition Chairman, Radzali Alision, explained that the competition was not only a field to select Miri Division representatives to the Borneo Level Zikir Marhaban Competition in Kuching in November, but also aimed to strengthen Malay Islamic culture and uphold the art of Islamic heritage among the younger generation.

Also present were the Deputy Mayor of Miri City, Councillor Ariffin Mohamad, Pemanca Ujut Rahman, Penghulu Samad Alip and the leadership of the local Muslim community. -UKASnews
