LAWAS: The Hasrat Madani Programme for Lawas District serves a medium to deliver government policies and initiatives directly to the people.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that the programme provides exposure to various initiatives created by the government.
"Many initiatives have been provided by the Sarawak and Federal Governments covering aspects of health, welfare, education and economic opportunities. Programmes like this can bridge the information gap between the government and the people," he said.
He said this when officiating the programme organised by the Community Communication Department (J-KOM) here, on Sunday.
The Bukit Sari Assemblyman also reminded the public to be wise in evaluating information from social media as some are false and can cause misunderstandings.
He said that official channels such as UKAS, J-KOM and government agencies are the best sources for obtaining authentic information.
Meanwhile, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah stressed the need to maintain political stability in order to build a better future, thus attracting investor confidence to develop Sarawak.
In addition, he touched on the importance of education and skills for young people, including opportunities offered through international schools, state-owned universities and CENTEXS.
He said that more than 700 CENTEXS Lawas graduates had been born, with 78 percent of them having found employment.
Touching on infrastructure development, he said that the Phase 2 Waterfront Kuala Lawas project, Kuala Lawas bridge, new airport and main roads were being actively implemented.
Meanwhile, the Hasrat Madani Lawas Programme was also enlivened with visits to sales booths and exhibitions by various agencies including Baitulmal, SOCSO, the Accountant General's Department and the Social Welfare Department.
Also present were Limbang Division Resident, Unus Tambi, Sarawak Zone J-KOM Deputy Director, Mohamad Shahrizan Putit, Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Awgku Jinal Abedin Pengiran Datuk Jawa, Lawas District Officer, Ladin Atok, NRDA Director, Datu Ubaidillah Abdul Latif, Temenggong Rosli Majid as well as heads of departments, communities and races. - UKASnews
