i-CATS University College Seals Strategic MoU With Türkiye’s Middle East Technical University

ANKARA: i-CATS University College has taken another leap towards international academic excellence by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Middle East Technical University (METU), Türkiye, a global leader in science, engineering, and technology.

The signing, held in conjunction with the 13th Ankara International Aerospace Conference (AIAC’25) hosted by METU from 17–19 September, marked a historic milestone for i-CATS.

The university college also showcased its growing research capabilities through a paper presentation by its Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the prestigious event.

Under the MoU, i-CATS and METU will collaborate on joint research and innovation in aerospace and related fields, academic exchange programmes, professional development, and industry-driven initiatives aligned with Malaysia’s and Türkiye’s strategic priorities.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of i-CATS University College, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Husain, described the partnership as a catalyst for transforming Sarawak into a hub of high-technology education and innovation.

“This MoU with METU is not only a symbol of cooperation, but a catalyst for transforming Sarawak into a powerhouse of high-technology education and innovation. Through this partnership, our students and researchers will gain global exposure and expertise, strengthening Sarawak’s future as a hub of excellence,” he said.

Vice Chancellor of i-CATS University College, Professor Emeritus Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, said the collaboration would elevate Sarawak’s role in the global knowledge economy.

“Together, we are laying the foundation for impactful research, global talent mobility, and industry collaboration that will elevate Sarawak’s role in the knowledge economy,” he added.

Representing METU, Vice President Professor Dr. Feride Pınar Acar said the partnership underscored both institutions’ shared commitment to advancing aerospace research and education.

“This partnership strengthens our shared mission to cultivate innovation, talent, and knowledge that will have a lasting impact not only in Türkiye and Sarawak but also globally,” she said. -UKASnews
