MIRI: The city of Miri once again played host to the 3rd Borneo Diabetes Conference 2025, bringing together more than 400 regional health experts on Friday.
The conference was officially opened by Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, who represented Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian.
In his speech, Dato Sri Lee expressed appreciation to the organisers for successfully delivering a high-impact event that unites health professionals from across the region to strengthen efforts in tackling diabetes and obesity.
He added that hosting an international-level conference in Miri reflects Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to advancing the healthcare sector, while also supporting the state’s tourism and economic growth agenda.
Dato Sri Lee further emphasised that the Sarawak government continues to prioritise healthcare development, including upgrading infrastructure, strengthening specialist services at Miri Hospital, and expanding access to healthcare in rural areas of northern Sarawak.
The conference also featured local and international guest speakers who shared insights on various aspects of diabetes treatment, prevention, and management. -UKASnews
