Petronas, Petros Strengthen Partnership In Oil & Gas Industry

KUCHING: The collaboration between Petronas and Petros in the oil and gas industry continues to grow, showcasing a strong partnership in the development of sustainable energy resources.
 
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said, Petronas remains as a partner of Sarawak as a whole, where the state exercise its rights in accordance with the law. 
 
“When I do my part in the oil and gas industry, I also look at the rights that we have in our law. 
 
“We have to operate within the legal parameters of our law, and Petronas understands this,” he said.
 
He said this during the Official Launch of Sarawak Electrolyser Assembly and Distribution Facility (SEA-DF) at Demak Laut Industrial Park here, today. 
 
Meanwhile, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari added that the synergy between Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and Petronas, particularly through their joint facility, demonstrates the effectiveness of their collaboration.
 
“I believe that this collaboration will produce the talent, experience and technical expertise from both parties ensuring sustainable progress in the hydrogen business.
 
“It also functions as a training ground for local Sarawakians, with eight individuals currently being trained to become engineers in the plan.
 
“This collaborative effort aims not only to develop local expertise but also to provide opportunities for these individuals to gain international experience and enhance their knowledge in the emerging hydrogen economy,” he said. 
 
Meanwhile, the event also saw the exchange of several documents related to new energy development in Sarawak and Malaysia in general. 
 
They involve the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between SEDC Energy and UOB Malaysia to support Sarawak’s sustainable economic growth, MOU between SEDC Energy and ILS for the integration of SEDC Energy’s hydrogen fuel cell trucks into ILS logistics operation, and the supply agreement between SEDC Energy and Hydrexia for the supply of green hydrogen for export and domestic market. 
 
Other documents include the letter of undertaking for the supply of electrolyser between Hydrexia, LHSB and Peric, letter of intent (LOI) for potential collaboration for Solar PV and hydrogen production technologies between SEDC Energy, LHSB and Solarvest, as well as the LOI for potential collaboration for development of welding capability and industrial training between LHSB and Awisar.

Also present were Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, SEDC Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Husain, Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Senior Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management, Datuk Ir Bacho Pilong, and other dignitaries. -UKASnews
