KUCHING: Eight families affected by the fire disaster in Kampung Haji Baki on March 22 have received assistance from the Sarawak government totalling RM34,100.

Sarawak Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah stated that the aid provided to these eight families were determined based on the number of household members and their age groups.

“The assistance we provide is based on the number of family members in the household, and age is also an important factor in determining the amount of aid to be given.

“If there are young children attending school, then additional assistance will be provided in terms of school clothing and school supplies,” she explained.

She made these comments during a press conference after presenting the aid to the fire victims in Kampung Haji Baki here, on Wednesday.
