KUCHING: The theme “Ummah Maju Makmur” for this year’s Maulidur Rasul celebration was chosen with the meaning to reflect the aspirations of Muslims in Sarawak to build a society that is developed and prosperous in all aspects of life.
Sarawak Chief Minister Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the theme expressed the desire to produce people who are not only successful from a physical and economic perspective, but also balanced in terms of knowledge, values and morals.
He stressed that the Prophet Muhammad SAW is a great role model who was sent as a blessing to all the worlds and a source of inspiration in driving the progress of the state.
“Maulidur Rasul is not just a celebration, but a starting point to renew the determination to emulate the morals and leadership of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, as well as to build a prosperous and loving Sarawak guided by his Sunnah.
“The Maulidur Rasul celebration is a field to renew the determination and make the Prophet Muhammad SAW a role model for life.
“Love for the Prophet Muhammad SAW is part of faith. The Sarawak Muslim community expresses this love through prayers, processions, talks and charitable practices,” he said.
He delivered the message during the Assembly and Procession in conjunction with the Sarawak Maulidur Rasul 1447H/2025M Celebration at Padang Merdeka, Kuching on Saturday.
Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi highlighted that Islam emphasises comprehensive development, covering spiritual, intellectual and physical aspects.
The concept of ‘imarah and tazkiyah, he explained, outlines world development that does not ignore the interests of the hereafter.
According to him, the Sarawak administration will continue to be guided by the principles of maqasid syariah in formulating policies and implementing development that preserves religion, life, intellect, lineage and property.
“The Implementation of the Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) emphasises a balance of digital economy, environment, social and inclusiveness.
“Therefore, it is our collective responsibility to defend it for the sake of justice and well-being of all the people,” he said.
