KUCHING: Residents of the Stampin Resettlement Scheme are set to benefit from an improved recreational park through a Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) upgrading project worth RM100,000.

The project at Lorong 2, Stampin Resettlement Scheme, will see the construction of a pickleball court, the installation of fitness equipment including a walker station and a twister station, as well as the addition of concrete benches for public use.

Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin together with officers from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) officially handed over the Letter of Award under the RTP to the contractor for the upgrading works on Tuesday.

According to him, the scope of work also includes the construction of a 5.5-metre, three-tier reinforced concrete grandstand at the futsal court.

Meanwhile, the futsal court itself was successfully completed last year under RTP funding secured by the Kota Sentosa Assemblyman.

“The project reflects my continuous commitment to ensuring that residents of Stampin Resettlement Scheme enjoy modern, safe, and inclusive recreational facilities.

“Recreational spaces not only promote healthy lifestyles but also strengthen community ties by providing safe and well-equipped gathering places,” he said in a statement.

Wilfred further assured that he will continue to work closely with the community and local authorities to identify needs and channel available resources to improve the living environment of all residents in Kota Sentosa.

“Facilities like pickleball courts, fitness stations, and comfortable seating areas are part of our effort to create more holistic community parks where people of all ages can benefit.

“With the addition of the new grandstand, residents will also have a more comfortable viewing experience during futsal matches and community events,” he added. -UKASnews
