KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar along with his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi attended the UNIMAS Iftar Perdana Event 2024 with students and staff of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) here, on Tuesday.
The arrival of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and his wife at 6 p.m. at Pusat Islam Tun Abang Salahuddin (PITAS) was greeted by the Vice-Chancellor of UNIMAS Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit.
After breaking fast, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah performed the Maghrib, Isha and Tarawih prayers in congregation with the UNIMAS community.
During the event, the Head of State also presented cash contributions from UNIMAS to six surau around Kota Samarahan.
Among the recipients are Surau Darul Bahagia Kampung Tambirat Ulu, Surau Darul Azam Kampung Lubok Ria Hilir, Surau Darul Solihin Kampung Tanjung Apong, Surau Darul Furqan Kampung Binyuk Baru, Surau Darul Iman Taman Samarindah Baru and Surau Darul Ukhwah Taman Sri Tuang.
The iftar event is an annual activity of UNIMAS held to celebrate the month of Ramadan with the entire campus community, including staff, students and the local community.
The programme also serves as a platform for fostering harmony among campus members and the community.
Also present at the event were Chairman of UNIMAS Board of Directors Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie and other honoured guests. -UKASnews
