LAWAS: The district of Lawas is poised for rapid development with the upcoming LEPAPA Project, which will feature 150 apartment units, a 50-room hotel, commercial premises, and a water theme park.
The project forms part of a large-scale development initiative spanning 10 locations across Sarawak, said LEPAPA Chairman, Lee Chin Teck, during a site visit by Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, who is also the Bukit Sari Assemblyman, expressed appreciation to the private sector for supporting the state’s development agenda.
He said that in addition to the LEPAPA project, the state government is also implementing various infrastructure projects to improve the standard of living in Lawas.
“Roads will be widened, the electricity supply linking Limbang and Lawas to the state grid is expected to be completed by October 2025, while a new plant in Pengalih will strengthen the clean water supply. Telecommunications facilities are also being upgraded,” he said.
He added that other major projects, such as the new Lawas Airport, NCH and the Pan Borneo Highway (SSLR), will further boost the district’s eco-tourism growth.
Also present were Lawas Member of Parliament, Dato Henry Sum Agong, Limbang Resident, Unus Tambi, and NRDA Regional Director, Datu Ubaidillah Abd Latif. -UKASnews
