LAWAS: Community welfare initiatives continue to be strengthened in Bukit Sari when the Women and Youth Movement of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Bukit Sari Branch organised the Launching Ceremony and Prayer for the 'Bakul Kasih Pemedulian' programme at a hotel here on Sunday.
The ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Sarawak Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, in the presence of Member of Parliament for Lawas, Dato Henry Sum Agong and the leadership of the PBB Bukit Sari Branch Women and Youth Wing.
In a press conference, the Bukit Sari Assemblyman expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the Bukit Sari PBB Youth and Women for organising the welfare-oriented programme.
“Although the assistance provided may not be large, the value and spirit behind it are very meaningful.
“It symbolises the determination of all of us to ensure that the welfare of the community is always maintained,” he said.
The ‘Bakul Kasih Pemedulian’ programme focuses on chronic patients who have lost their source of income, with each recipient receiving a food basket worth RM100 and a cash sum of RM150.
Apart from financial assistance, this programme also carries the message of moral support that they are not forgotten by society.
Among the main objectives of the programme include easing the financial burden of patients' households, providing moral and emotional support to patients and families, and fostering a culture of caring among the community.
Additionally, it further strengthens the social responsibility of the organisation and lowers stress in the lives of patients and families to focus on treatment and recovery. -UKASnews
