MATU: A total of 20 asnafs - who are eligible to receive zakat (Islamic alms), collected food basket donations from the Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Matu on Sunday.

The donation was presented by the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Dato' Murshid Diraja Dr. Juanda Jaya.

The assistance to the asnafs from Kampung Bawang, Kampung Sekaan Kecil and Kampung Tian, includes rice and kitchen essentials, is intended to ease the burden of the recipients, especially in the face of the rising cost of living.

The Jemoreng Assemblyman said that such welfare programmes will be continued from time to time to help reduce the daily expenses of the asnaf groups in the Jemoreng area.

The recipients of the assistance expressed their gratitude and thanks to the Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Matu for the donation, which provided them with relief.
