BINTULU: The Sarawak Government is prepared to assist farmers by providing agricultural machinery to boost the sector in line with modern technology.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, said the machinery would be channelled to the Sarawak Farmers’ Association for the benefit of farmers across the state.

“The association will manage the machinery, which farmers can use at affordable rental rates to support their farming activities.

“This way, our farmers no longer need to rely solely on the traditional hoe,” he said.

He made the remarks when officiating at the Sarawak Agrofest at the Old Bintulu Airport grounds on Saturday.

Also present were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Sarawak Minister for Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development cum Minister-in-Charge of the Sarawak Agrofest 2025 opening ceremony Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom, along with other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
