KUCHING: The Great British Circus is heading to Kuching as the first stop of its tour of Sarawak in 2024.
Founder of Big Kid Entertainment (M) Sdn Bhd which owns and operates the Great British Circuit, Kiril Kirilov said that Sarawak is one of the best places in Malaysia to host and organise outdoor, music and entertainment events.
“We would like to bring the circus to everyone, everywhere. Children are growing in the electronic age, and they need to be involved with something away from the screen.
“So, I personally believe that a circus is the first step to show them the joy of live performances and break free from constant screen time,” he said.
He said this in a press conference held at Bangunan Baitulmakmur II, here, on Thursday.
Including the Great British Circus in the list of upcoming events held in Sarawak, which is already well-known for its Rainforest World Music Festival, will surely excite the locals, making them have something to look forward to.
On this matter, Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the circus would definitely appeal to everyone.
"This circus will certainly contribute to the economy, especially benefiting vendors who wish to continue their food truck businesses during the event.
“Visitors from outside of Kuching coming for the circus will require accommodation in our hotels, thereby boosting our hospitality industry as well.
"By watching and enjoying the shows, families can strengthen their bonds with each other through this circus. We are very happy that the Great British Circus is coming to Sarawak,” he said at the same press conference.
Shows will kick off in Kuching, starting at the Sarawak State Stadium from June 8 to July 14, 2024, before the circus heads to Miri from July 26 to August 25.
