KUCHING: The SHEDA Property Expo 2025 has positioned itself not only as a marketplace for property showcases but also as a reflection of Sarawak’s progress, innovation, and dedication to developing sustainable and inclusive communities.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, underlined that homeownership continues to serve as a powerful driver of economic transformation.

He pointed out that evolving lifestyle trends such as tiny homes, transit-oriented developments, vertical gardens, and shared communal spaces reflect the aspirations of a new generation in how they choose to live, work, and connect with one another.

“Let us embrace change with resilience, and together, build not just properties, but a sustainable future,” he said in a text speech delivered by Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, during the SHEDA Property Expo 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Friday.

Aligned with the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, the Premier highlighted Sarawak’s commitment to constructing 20,000 units of affordable housing between 2026 and 2030.

These projects will incorporate modern construction technologies such as the Industrialised Building System (IBS) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) to ensure efficiency, quality, and long-term sustainability.

The expo also saw the unveiling of the new SHEDA Institute logo and the launch of SHEDA\:ENCORE, a collaborative platform designed to facilitate knowledge-sharing and partnerships among industry stakeholders.

Running over three days, the event at BCCK features 52 exhibition booths, alongside talks on financial planning, property market trends, and home feng shui.

Complementing the property focus are community activities including a blood donation drive, the GoBald campaign, and a children’s colouring contest. -UKASnews
