KUCHING: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) through its annual LCDA Prihatin programme held a ‘Beduk’ Handing Over Ceremony and donation distribution at Nurir Rahmani Mosque, Kampung Santubong which was officiated by LCDA General Manager, Datu Sr Zaidi Mahdi.

According to a statement, the LCDA Prihatin programme was themed ‘Strengthening sustainability, developing with the community’, which was held under LCDA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which reflects its ongoing commitment in supporting environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.

“This programme focuses on social aspects and community well-being and aims to have a significant positive impact on the local community.

“As a gesture of concern, LCDA took the initiative to provide cash donations to 71 recipients consisting of the underprivileged from Kampung Santubong and the handover of a ‘beduk’ as a means of worship to the Nurir Rahmani Mosque,” the statement said on Thursday.

'Beduk' refers to a large drum, often used in local mosques and prayer houses, to signal prayer times.

Also present were Head of Kampung Santubong, Hardy Morni, Chairman of the Nurir Rahmani Mosque Committee, Safiudin Matsah, HIKMAH's Dakwah Training & Development Officer, Ustaz Sarbini Dahlan, and senior LCDA officers. -UKASnews
