KUCHING: Benchmarking programmes organised by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak have gained national attention.
Director of JBPM Fire Safety Division, Datu Khiruddin Drahman said, this is clear evidence of the huge potential of Sarawakian youth and their ability to make a positive impact on the community.
He added that it indirectly showcases the commitment and efforts of JBPM Sarawak in raising safety awareness and preparedness to handle fire-related issues within the community.
"The contributions from the Sarawakian youth can be expanded for the welfare of the community.
"We can see from the statistics on the properties saved, which clearly demonstrate the capability and proficiency of our community in effectively dealing with fire incidents.
"If these programmes continue, we can ensure a resilient community in facing disasters," he said.
He said this when met by reporters after a courtesy visit to the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Thursday.
According to Datu Khiruddin, the visit was also to inform Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari about his transfer and promotion to the position of Director of the Fire Safety Division at the JBPM Headquarters in Putrajaya.
He further explained that the position of JBPM Sarawak Director will be temporarily held by the Deputy Director of JBPM Sarawak, Tiong Ling Hii until the position is permanently filled.
"I wish to thank the leadership of the Sarawak government, honorary members, and community leaders who have always supported JBPM Sarawak's efforts in empowering the community towards resilience. I hope this support continues to ensure the safety of individuals, families, and society," he said.
Also present during the visit were Tiong, Assistant Director of Fire and Rescue Operations, Henderi Ardimansyah, and Assistant Director of Fire Safety, Mohamad Fauzi Mohamat Kifli. -UKASnews
