BINTULU: Young tennis star Yoshi Kho, an 11-year-old student of SJKC Stampin, continued to shine as he captured both the Under-12 Boys Singles and Doubles titles at the Kejohanan Tenis Majlis Sukan Sekolah Sarawak (MSSS) 2025, held here from 10 to 15 August.
According to a statement, Yoshi displayed commanding form in the singles category, defeating Bintulu’s Jovian Kallang, scoring 6-2, 6-0 in the final.
“His aggressive play and consistency left his opponent with few chances, cementing his position as Sarawak’s best junior player in the category this year.
“In the doubles event, Yoshi teamed up with fellow Kuching teammate Hou Ben Yee, and together they overpowered Miri’s pair Carson Kuek and Lucas Ha, winning convincingly 6-3, 6-1 to secure another gold medal,” it said.
The double triumph in Bintulu came just days after Yoshi’s strong showing at the Tennis Malaysia Junior Tour SportExcel 2025 Leg 4 in Melaka held from 5 to 9 August.
“There, he partnered Penang’s Mason Jairus to win the Under-12 Doubles title, while also reaching the semifinals in singles, proving his ability to compete against the country’s best juniors,” the statement said.
Yoshi credited his school, SJKC Stampin, and particularly its Headmistress, Chong Siew Fong for the continuous encouragement, along with the guidance of his coaches and the motivation from his parents and friends.
His preparation has also been strengthened through the PTMS-MTS partnership training programme, which has played an important role in his recent achievements. -UKASnews
